Listening to my body

This morning I had an easy 3 mile run scheduled. I went to bed early, layed out my running clothes, got up when my alarm sounded and got out the door... I was very proud of myself. Until about a mile into the run.

Yesterday and again this morning my leg hurt - specicially the right leg on the inner lower side where the calf meets the shin. Yesterday I ran through it. Today my body wouldnt let me and I walked home.

Of course I googled it - looks/sounds like a posterior shin splint. Their advise - ice, elevation, motrin, stretching and rest. So Im sitting here with an ice pack wrapped around it and it up on a chair. Im stressing about the rest part. I have 8 miles on the books for Thur. I have been looking forward to it all week. But I will listen to my body. If I need a few days off now so I can run strong than so be it.

Ok off to stretch and find that motrin.

  1. I know that feeling. My knee has been flaring up for the past week, and I have a 5k tomorrow. *sigh*
